• 1951 :  Born Cape Town, South Africa
  • 1971 :  Completed Diploma Fine Art, Witwatersrand College of Art, Johannesburg. Majored in Sculpture and Printmaking.
    Printed silkscreen editions for professional South African artists in own studio (Walter Battiss, Larry Scully, Stephanie Watson a.o.)
  • 1973 – 76 :  Completed BA Hons (First Class) Sculpture.  St Martin’s School of Art, London. Tutored by Anthony Caro, Philip King, Barry Flanagan and Bill Woodrow. Invited to join the ‘London Performance Co-Op’
  • 1977 :  Moved to Lake District, set up Artist Craftsmen Workshops as Art co-ordinator, with the initiative to reintroduce traditional British crafts that were being lost.
    Lectured part time in Sculpture, Painting and Drawing at Ulverston Adult Education centre, Cumbria.
  • 1978 :  Awarded ‘British Arts Council’ grant to continue own sculpture and performance.
  • 1980 – 83 :   Returned to South Africa as Manager of Menalco Prints (pty) Ltd. Cape Town, an exclusive hand printing textile company.
  • 1981 – 83 :  Designed and crafted wooden toys as an art form (part time).
  • 1983 :  Joined the Orange Free State Technikon Art School as Lecturer and Head of Sculpture. Taught 3D design; mixed media and ceramics; Life drawing.
  • 1984 :  Appointed as Senior Lecturer and Head of Sculpture at the University of Bophuthatswana. Taught 3D design, Drawing and History of Art (tutorials).
  • 1986 :  Returned to United Kingdom and set in own studio.
  • 1988 :  Completed PGCE in Craft Design and Technology at the Polytechnic of Wolverhampton.
  • 1988 –90 :  Taught Art, Design and Technology at Bishop of Hereford’s Bluecoat School. Hereford.
  • 1990 –11:  Appointed Head of Art and Product Design at The Glasgow Academy, Glasgow Scotland.
  • 2011 :  Retired from teaching, presently practising artist.
